Join us for our Big Awareness Session — Sunday 22 November, Smethwick

We are holding a free, one-hour awareness session at Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Smethwick. Everyone is welcome, and no booking is needed.

Most people have never heard of Brugada Syndrome. That is the single biggest problem we face — and it is the reason we are coming out into the community to talk about it.

On Sunday 22 November, we are holding our Big Awareness Session at Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Smethwick. It runs for one hour, it is completely free, and anyone is welcome to come along.

The details

Date: Sunday 22 November 2026

Time: 1.30 pm – 2.30 pm

Venue: Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Lecture Theatre, 130 High Street, Smethwick B66 3AP

Admission: Free — no ticket or booking required

What we'll cover

In one hour, we will explain in plain language:

What Brugada Syndrome is — a rare inherited heart rhythm condition affecting a heart that is otherwise completely healthy

Why it so often goes unnoticed — it is frequently silent, and for many people the very first sign is a sudden cardiac arrest

The warning signs to look out for — fainting or blackouts, gasping or groaning during sleep, unexplained palpitations, and illness brought on by a fever

Why family history matters — a child of an affected parent has a one in two chance of inheriting it

What you can do — how it is found on an ECG, how it can be managed, and why screening close relatives saves lives

There will be time for questions, and our team will be on hand afterwards for anyone who would rather talk privately.

Who should come

Anyone. You do not need a diagnosis, a family history, or any medical knowledge to take something useful away from this session.

It will be particularly worth an hour of your time if someone in your family has fainted without explanation, has unexplained palpitations, or died suddenly and young with no cause ever found.

Why we are doing this in the community

Awareness does not spread through leaflets alone. It spreads through conversations — between neighbours, in families, after a session like this one, when someone goes home and mentions it to a relative.

We are grateful to Guru Nanak Gurdwara for hosting us, and we hope to see you there.

Every family deserves to know.
